The Liberty Theatre Gala

The Liberty Theatre Presents:
Featuring Thomas Lauderdale, of Pink Martini
& Hunter Noack, of Classical Music in the Wild

November 10th, 5pm

The Board of Directors of the Liberty Theatre has announced that it will engage in a capital campaign to improve its stage capabilities, including rigging, lighting, and new curtains. The “fly” house, that area immediately above the stage, does not have the capability to hang sets, drop curtains or flats, or direct any lighting. The stage improvements will allow the Theatre to present fully staged theatrical productions seen for the first time on the Coast, such as Broadway hits, operas and ballets.  Imagine, “The Liberty Theatre Presents Hamilton!”  View a video of the scope of stage improvements HERE.

The campaign will be kicked off at a fundraising event, “The Liberty Theatre Gala---Once in a Blue Moon” on November 10, 2018.  The event will feature a dual piano concert by Thomas Lauderdale of Pink Martini and Hunter Noack of Classical Music in the Wild. The theme of “Once in a Blue Moon” comes from their repertoire which will include George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” (not to mention the fact that there were two “blue moons” in 2018!).

This “Once in a Blue Moon” opportunity will begin with a stunning reception in the gilded McTavish Room. As guests enter the Theatre lobby, they will be served champagne, then pass through a sparkling shimmer of lights to move into the McTavish Room. There they will find themselves under a heavenly bower of cascading fresh flowers.  Sumptuous heavy hors d’oeuvres from famed Carruthers Restaurant will be passed along with wine and champagne. Signature cocktails will also be available.  Patrons can purchase tickets for sensational raffle items during the reception.

Guests will then move into the Theatre, to be greeted by more glimmering sparkles where wine service will continue. Prior to the concert, a brief presentation will offer information about the stage improvements, followed by the raffle drawings and an exciting short live auction, with several over-the-top items. Senator Betsy Johnson will then lead a rousing special appeal. Senator Johnson has stated the importance of the Liberty Theatre to Astoria, "The Liberty Theatre was the spark plug that changed downtown's prospects."

Tickets to this amazing black tie optional event are $150 and only 350 tickets will be sold. The ticket price is all-inclusive of reception, food and drink, and the outstanding concert. Tickets will open to the public soon.
